As Medical Director for the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, the incumbent is responsible for establishing, maintaining and developing medical policy for health services and clinically managing collaboration among contracted medical/mental health/dental and pharmacy teams providing health services to incarcerated individuals in the Baltimore Pretrial Complex and in the Department of Corrections in accordance with Secretary’s Directive 02-97.
The Chief of Health Services has a direct impact on the Department’s mission to provide health care services and program administration that assures a constitutional level of care. This position serves as a subject matter expert in delivering medical services using industry best practices with proven results, while leading all clinical aspects of the health services delivery system for a large population of incarcerated individuals.

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Physicians.
Experience: Seven (7) years of experience including; five (5) years of full-time, wage earning, experience providing direct patient care, clinical management, or health care administration as a licensed physician in a general medical or surgical service. As well as two (2) years of general experience in a supervisory capacity or leader of medical programs, incorporating administration, personnel management, and fiscal oversight.
