Under limited supervision, directs and manages the administrative, logistical support, and program services of a medium-security adult male institution.
Oversees institutional support operations, including supply, canteen, mailroom, maintenance, food service, commissary, and medical services.
Directs and manages program areas such as education, dental services, recreation, horticulture, pastoral care, prison industries, and inmate organizations.
Performs the duties of the Warden in their absence.
Serves as an on-call official on a rotating basis.
Prepares written reports, special studies, and staff papers, including recommendations related to proposed changes in policies, operating procedures, rules, regulations, and laws.
Performs related duties as required.
This position is designated as on-call and requires successful completion of eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Trainingupon hire.

A bachelor’s degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience.
Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
A high school diploma and ten (10) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or law enforcement work, including five (5) years of supervisory experience in a correctional environment.
A degree in criminal justice or a related field may substitute for up to one-half of the required supervisory experience:
Associate degree: up to 2 years
Bachelor’s degree or higher: up to 2.5 years
Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the Basic Supervisory Course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
